Agartala, 19th September 2024: In a significant move to ensure fair pricing and market regulation, a joint initiative by the Food Department and the Sadar Sub-divisional administration was carried out today in Maharajganja market, Agartala. The operation, aimed at monitoring and regulating the prices of essential commodities, focused on wholesale shops dealing with pulses and mustard oil.
During the raid, officials assessed the average prices of dal (pulses) and mustard oil across several shops. The investigation revealed consistent pricing for mustard oil at various locations, a detail that will be reported to the SDM for further review.
As part of the campaign, training sessions were conducted for the students of Arundhatinagar School’s Consumer Club. This initiative is part of a broader effort to integrate consumer awareness into educational institutions. A total of 100 schools across the state have been established as consumer clubs, with 15 located in the Sadar subdivision alone. Arundhatinagar School, with its 5-member Consumer Club, participated actively in today’s market raid, gaining valuable insights into consumer rights and market dynamics.
Additionally, the raid led to the seizure of a truckload of potatoes found without proper ripening receipts. This action underscores the administration’s commitment to preventing market malpractices and ensuring transparency in the supply of essential goods.
The Sadar Sub-Divisional Administration has pledged to continue such monitoring efforts to safeguard consumer interests and maintain market integrity.
