Agartala, 30th March 2025 :   Tripura’s Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, on Sunday instructed officials to accelerate the construction of the state’s largest fuel storage depot in Sekerkot, Sepahijala district.

Accompanied by senior officials, Chowdhury visited the project site to assess the progress of ongoing work.  Following the inspection, the minister chaired a meeting where representatives from various departments and the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) discussed key aspects of the project.

“During my visit to the fuel storage depot in Sekerkot, I reviewed the project’s status and held discussions with officials from the Food and Public Distribution Department and IOCL. Several critical issues were examined, and I provided the necessary directives to ensure the project is completed on time,” Chowdhury stated.

The fuel depot, being developed by IOCL, is designed to have a storage capacity of 21,000 kiloliters, with an estimated investment of ₹680 crore.

Construction is progressing, with a scheduled completion date of September 2025. Once operational, the railway-fed depot will allow Tripura to maintain a reserve of petrol and diesel sufficient for 25 to 30 days.
