Tripura mourns the loss of journalist Kanad Modak

Agartala, 3rd April 2024:   The media fraternity of Tripura is mourning the loss of Kanad Modak, a young and talented journalist who passed away early this morning after a prolonged battle with liver disease. Modak, known for his impactful presence both on television and behind the scenes, succumbed to his illness at his residence in Dhaleswar, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in journalism.

The news of his untimely demise has cast a pall of sorrow across the media landscape of Tripura. Distinguished figures and organizations have come forward to express their condolences. Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb took to social media to voice his deep sadness over the loss of Modak, whom he described as a gifted journalist. Deb extended his heartfelt sympathies to Modak’s family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

The Tripura Working Journalists Association also expressed profound grief over Modak’s passing. The association, recognizing the void left by his absence, offered its sincerest condolences to his family and wished for the departed soul’s everlasting peace. In a gesture of respect and remembrance, Modak’s body was taken to the Agartala Press Club today.

The state’s Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik, and Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly Ramprasad Pal have also joined in mourning the death of Konad Modak, acknowledging his contributions to the field of journalism and the impact of his work on society.
