Tripura Panchayats shine on national stage; Kishor Barman hails collective effort behind National Panchayat Awards 2025

Agartala, 6th June 2026:   Tripura has added another significant milestone to its rural development journey, with several Panchayats from the state receiving prestigious recognition at the national level for their outstanding performance in rural governance and development. The achievement came under the National Panchayat Awards 2025, reflecting the state’s growing success in strengthening grassroots democracy and rural administration.

Addressing a press conference at the Civil Secretariat here on Saturday, Rural Development (Panchayat) Minister Kishore Barman highlighted the remarkable accomplishments of Tripura’s Panchayats and their contribution to effective rural governance.

The Minister stated that the awards acknowledge exceptional work carried out by Panchayats in sectors such as rural development, transparent administration, public service delivery, social welfare, and the creation of sustainable rural infrastructure. He noted that Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state have emerged as vital instruments for ensuring good governance and promoting inclusive development at the grassroots level.

“This success is not solely the result of the efforts of Panchayat representatives. It is the outcome of the collective endeavors of government employees, the administration, and the general public. This achievement was made possible through the cooperation and participation of all stakeholders,” Barman said.

The Minister further emphasized that the national recognition would inspire Panchayats across the state to undertake more people-centric and development-oriented initiatives in the coming years. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to accelerating rural development and improving the quality of life of people living in villages.

Senior officials of the Rural Development Department, who were present at the press conference, stated that Tripura’s Panchayats have consistently implemented innovative programmes and best practices in rural development, earning appreciation at the national level.

The recognition received under the National Panchayat Awards 2025 is being viewed as a proud achievement for Tripura and a testament to the state’s continued efforts towards building stronger, transparent, and self-reliant rural communities.
