Agartala, 30th June 2025: Tripura Chief Minister and Health Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday announced that the state has achieved its third successful kidney transplant, marking a significant milestone in its growing healthcare capabilities.
The procedure was carried out at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GB Pant Hospital, in collaboration with a team of specialists from Shija Hospitals and Research Institute, Manipur.
Sharing the news on the eve of National Doctors’ Day, Dr. Saha said, “As we prepare to celebrate Doctors’ Day tomorrow, I’m delighted to share that our doctors have successfully performed the third kidney transplant in Tripura. Both the donor and the recipient are in stable condition.”
He said the success reflects the medical team’s expertise and unwavering dedication and is a testament to the growing capabilities of Tripura’s healthcare infrastructure.Tripura’s journey in organ transplantation began less than a year ago, with its first kidney transplant conducted in July 2024. In that case, a 20-year-old youth received a kidney from his mother, marking a turning point in the state’s organ transplant efforts.
