Tripura Police arrests five including woman with 400 vials of brown sugar in Agartala

Agartala, 29th May 2024:   In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Tripura police arrested five individuals, including a woman, during a raid in the Goala Basti area. The operation resulted in the seizure of substantial quantities of drugs and cash.

“Based on secret information, we received a tip-off that a large amount of drugs would be bought and sold in the Goala Basti area,” a police official stated. Acting on this intelligence, NCC police station’s OC Sushanta Deb launched an operation targeting the suspected dealers.

During the raid, authorities recovered 400 vials of brown sugar, 3,000 empty vials presumably intended for drug packaging, and cash totaling Rs 1,25,510. The arrested suspects have been identified as Lal Kishan Roy, Lal Babu Roy, Dharmendra Roy, Rahul Saha, and Goria Devi.

“The suspects will be handed over to the court with a request for police remand,” the official added. This operation marks a significant effort by the Tripura police to combat the drug menace in the region.
