Agartala, 16th March 2026: The Tripura Police have apprehended two individuals involved in drug trafficking in Sepahijala District, officials confirmed today.
According to Tapas Das, Officer-in-Charge of Sonamura Police Station, one of the arrests was linked to illegal narcotics operations in the region.
“The arrest was conducted jointly with the Yatrapur Police. Aminul Islam (36), a resident of Surya Nagar, Sonapur, under the jurisdiction of Sonamura Police Station, has been produced in court, and police remand has been requested for further investigation. During questioning, he revealed information about several other drug traffickers active in the areas covered by Sonamura and Jatrapur police stations. Authorities are currently verifying these leads, and further arrests are expected as the investigation progresses,” he stated.
In a separate action, Subrata Nama (24), from Manowar Tila, Bhabanipur, under Jatrapur Police Station, was also detained as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive in the district.
