Tripura Police Destroy Large Cannabis Plantation in Sidai Mohanpur

Agartala, 9th  February 2026 :  In a major anti-narcotics operation, police in West Tripura’s Sidai area, specifically in the Sidai Mohanpur locality of Fera Nowagaon, have destroyed an extensive cannabis plantation. The operation targeted 11 plots of land, including some government-owned lands, where a total of 30,000 cannabis plants were uprooted and completely burned.

The operation was led by the West Tripura district police, with support from Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ashish Dasgupta, Sidai Officer-in-Charge Ajit Kanti Chakma, and Sundar Tila Outpost OC Dhrubajoy Reang. The action also involved personnel from the 124 Battalion CRPF and TSR jawans, along with a significant police presence.

Speaking to the media, Ashish Dasgupta emphasized that this is part of the district administration’s commitment to a drug-free Tripura. He further stated that such operations will continue in the future as a sustained effort to curb narcotics in the region.
