Tripura Police Seize 85.5 kg Ganja in Major Anti-Drug Operation, One Arrested

Agartala, 27th May 2026:   Tripura Police in the Kamalpur sub-division of Dhalai District have seized a large quantity of cannabis and arrested one individual following a targeted vehicle check operation.

As per information shared by SI Debabrata Datta of Kamalpur Police Station, the action was taken after authorities received intelligence about a private vehicle moving from Khowai District towards Kamalpur. Based on the input, police quickly established a naka checking point at Srirampur.

During the search operation, officers intercepted the vehicle and recovered around 85.5 kilograms of ganja, carefully packed in 152 separate packets. Police also discovered two identical Assam registration number plates inside the vehicle, which further strengthened suspicion of smuggling activity.The driver of the vehicle was immediately taken into custody. Officials have since initiated a wider investigation to determine the source of the contraband and to uncover the network involved in the illegal transportation.
