Tripura Polls: Fight for Power puts Brother-Sister against each other

Agartala Jan 29: Tripura assembly polls has already geared up as high-pitched drama after almost all the political parties revealed their candidate list.In a bizarre incident, siblings from same family are fighting against each other to attain power in the ensuing polls.

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday announced its candidate list where at least 7 MLAs have been dropped by the party leadership and were not provided any party ticket.Amid this, Badharghat incumbent MLA Mimi Majumder who attained the position after BJP MLA Dilip Sarkar died in the year 2019 has also been dropped off from the candidate list.

In place, the BJP has put up Late MLA Dilip Sarkar’s younger sister, Mina Rani Sarkar as the party’s face for 2023 assembly elections.Meanwhile in an interesting note, the opposition Congress has fielded Late MLA Dilip Sarkar’s elder brother Rajkumar Sarkar as the party’s candidate for the same Badharghat assembly constituency.

Both brother-sister from same family is going to fight against each other in view of attaining the position of Badharghat MLA.Speaking to the reporters during door-to-door campaigning on Sunday BJP candidate Mina Rani Sarkar expressed immense confidence of winning the polls. Lashing out opposition candidate she said, “The opposition candidate will never be able to gain courage to fight any elections after losing this time terribly”.Meanwhile, Rajkumar Sarkar Congress candidate of the same constituency pitched on the works done by younger brother Late Dilip Sarkar and urged the people to vote for him.
