Agartala, 24th April 2026: The Government of Tripura has reiterated its resolve to build a strong and sustainable startup ecosystem by prioritizing innovation, entrepreneurship, and improved financial inclusion for emerging businesses.
In this direction, a high-level meeting was chaired by Jeya Ragul Geshan B, IFS, Director of Information Technology, Government of Tripura. The session included participation from senior officials of the Directorate of Information Technology along with representatives of banks and financial institutions. The discussion was held as part of the District Business Reform Action Points (DBRAP) 2025, aimed at improving the ease of doing business at the district level.
The deliberations mainly focused on strengthening credit support mechanisms for startups across the state. Stakeholders reviewed key financing frameworks such as the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups (CGSS), Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (MUDRA), Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE), and the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), among others.
Participants stressed the need to make lending procedures more efficient and transparent, while also improving coordination between banks and aspiring entrepreneurs. Faster loan processing and wider dissemination of information about government-backed financial schemes were identified as important steps to support new ventures.
Officials highlighted that improving access to institutional credit is essential for enabling startups to grow, especially in emerging sectors that can contribute to long-term economic development in Tripura.
The government aims to further streamline financial processes and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders to build a more responsive and innovation-friendly startup environment in the state.
