Tripura Records 6% Below-Normal Rainfall in June: MeT

Agartala, 7th July 2025:  Tripura received 401.0 mm of rainfall in June this year, registering a 6% shortfall from the normal monthly average of 425.9 mm, according to a report by the Meteorological Centre, Agartala. Despite the deficit, the rainfall pattern has been classified as “normal.”

The state experienced rainfall on 25 days during the month, with monsoon activity reported as active on 5 days, normal on 13 days, and weak on 12 days. Officials said this distribution suggests a stable, albeit slightly fluctuating, monsoon pattern.

Compared to June 2024, when the state recorded 371.7 mm of rain, this year saw a marginal increase in precipitation. Among all districts, South Tripura received the highest rainfall—596.7 mm—marking a 23% excess over the district’s normal average. Sabroom town, located in South Tripura, recorded the highest station-wise rainfall with a substantial 729.8 mm.

However, extreme weather events were also observed in specific areas. Nutanbazar in North Tripura logged the highest single-day rainfall, with 296.2 mm recorded on June 1.

On the lower end, Sepahijala district experienced the sharpest deficit, recording 43% less rainfall than normal.

Temperature readings indicated a warmer-than-usual June. The highest maximum temperature—36.4°C—was recorded at Agartala Airport on June 10. The average mean maximum temperature across the state was 33.2°C, 0.5°C above normal, while the average mean minimum temperature stood at 25.3°C, a deviation of +1.0°C. The lowest temperature of the month was 23.0°C, recorded on June 3.
