Agartala, 21st June 2025: In a unique celebration of International Yoga Day, Tripura Santiniketan Medical College today blended the principles of health, wellness and social responsibility by organizing a large-scale blood donation camp on its campus.
The event, aimed at reinforcing the broader spirit of Yoga beyond physical fitness, saw participation from more than 100 donors, including students, faculty members, staff and local women entrepreneurs. The initiative underlined the college’s belief that “true wellness lies at the intersection of physical health and social responsibility.”
Dr. Malay Pit, President of the college, inaugurated the camp and led by example by being the first to donate blood. “Yoga is not just about physical exercise it teaches us inner discipline and social responsibility. Today’s blood donation camp is a living expression of those teachings,” he said while addressing the gathering.
A participating medical student shared, “Today is not just a special day—it’s a reminder of our connection to life itself,” capturing the emotional and humanitarian essence of the event.
Organized in collaboration with health department officials and local blood banks, the camp was conducted with full medical oversight, ensuring donor safety and proper storage of collected units.
The college administration stated its commitment to continue such initiatives in the future, aiming to build what they called a “truly healthy society.”
The event served not only as a tribute to the global celebration of Yoga Day but also as a powerful act of service demonstrating that the principles of yoga extend well beyond the mat.
