Agartala, 9th September 2026 : The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tripura, postponing the exercise in view of the upcoming Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
The revised schedule, issued on September 9, sets January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date for the electoral roll revision. The ECI approved the proposal submitted by the Tripura Chief Electoral Officer seeking deferment of the earlier schedule.
As per the new timeline, preparatory work, training and printing of electoral materials will be carried out from October 27 to November 5, 2026. This will be followed by BLOs conducting house-to-house verification from November 6 to December 5.
The rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations will also be completed by December 5, after which the draft electoral roll will be published on December 12.
Citizens will be able to submit claims and objections between December 12, 2026 and January 10, 2027. The subsequent notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will continue until February 9, 2027.
The final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on February 15, 2027.
The revised schedule is expected to allow the electoral authorities to complete the SIR process after accommodating the electoral activities related to the Village Committee elections.
