Agartala, January 17: As the holy city of Ayodhya prepares for the inauguration of the Ram temple on January 22, the Tripura branch of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has urged the Hindu community in the state to join the celebrations with lights and chants.
The organization minister of VHP, who addressed a press conference in Agartala on Wednesday, said that every temple in the state will conduct various activities on the day of the inauguration, including chanting the name of Ram 108 times and displaying the Rama Mandir Inauguration Ceremony through LEDs and projectors.
He also appealed to the people to light five clay lamps in each house on January 22 to mark the historic occasion. He said that the VHP will distribute lamps and posters of the Ram temple to the public. Other executives of the organization were also present at the press conference.
The inauguration of the Ram temple, which is being supervised by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other dignitaries. The temple is being built at the site where a 16th-century mosque was demolished by Hindu mobs in 1992, sparking communal riots. The Supreme Court of India granted the site to Hindus and gave a different plot of land to Muslims for a mosque in 2019.
