Agartala, 12th June 2025: The central government’s ambitious campaign ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ is set to culminate tomorrow with a special closing ceremony at the State Horticulture Research Centre at Nagichhara in the outskirts of Agartala city.
The 15-day campaign launched on May 29 engaged over 1.72 lakh farmers across 864 villages in Tripura raising awareness about modern agricultural practices, government schemes and sustainable technologies.
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath will grace the event as the chief guest. Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Nath stated, “This campaign has created a revolutionary awareness among farmers regarding advanced and sustainable farming techniques. The government is committed to empowering farmers through knowledge, technology and access to essential schemes.”
The event will also be attended by Agriculture Secretary Apurba Roy, Director of Agriculture Dr. Phani Bhushan Jamatia, Director of Horticulture Dipak Kumar Das, Director of ARD and Fisheries Dr. Neeraj Kumar Chanchal, Dean of the College of Fisheries Prof. Arun Bhai Patel and College of Agriculture Principal Dr. Debasish Sen.
Representatives from ICAR, scientists from all eight Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and other officials will also participate. Notably, eight progressive farmers- one from each district will be honored for their exemplary contributions in agriculture, horticulture, fishery, and animal husbandry.
Highlighting the campaign’s goals, Dr. Jamatia said, “The initiative focused on climate-resilient agriculture, eco-friendly practices, women empowerment, and strengthening Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).”
The Agriculture Department facilitated access to schemes such as PM-KISAN, Soil Health Card, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), and modern irrigation solutions. The closing ceremony will celebrate the campaign’s success in bridging the gap between traditional farming and digital, AI-driven solutions for a self-reliant agricultural future.
