Agartala, November 14: The Tripura government has decided to launch the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a three-month-long campaign to reach out to the people who are deprived of various schemes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on November 15, the 148th birthday of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the tribal freedom fighter and leader.

The state cabinet, in a meeting on Tuesday, approved the proposal to launch the State Development Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, which will coincide with the Bharat Sankalp Yatra of the Prime Minister, who will start his nationwide tour from Jharkhand on the same day.

Minister Sushanta Chowdhury held a press conference on Tuesday evening and announced the details of the campaign. He said that the state program will begin at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan at 10:30 am on Wednesday, and will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. He said that the campaign will aim to spread the message of good governance, development and double engine government for the tribal people of the state, who constitute about one-third of the population.

He said that the campaign will follow the success of the good governance program in each house, which was launched last year and received a huge response from the people. He said that the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra will also meet the same developed resolve of the people and will showcase the achievements and initiatives of the state and the central governments.

He said that the central government has deputed seven IAS and AFS officers to the state to make the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra a success. Besides, ministers, secretaries and other officials will be sent to different districts by the state government. He said that the state has formed committees at the state and district levels, headed by the chief secretary and the district administrators respectively, to oversee the campaign.

He also said that Tripura, though a small state, is showing the direction of the country in terms of good governance. He cited the examples of the state’s performance in various sectors, such as education, health, agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure. He also urged the people of the state to use electricity judiciously and avoid wastage.

He expressed his hope that the Bharat Sankalp Yatra will be a grand success and will strengthen the bond between the state and the central governments, as well as between the people and the government. He also greeted and congratulated the people of the state on the occasion of Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s birthday and Diwali festival.
