Agartala, 14th September 2026 : The Tripura government will organise a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and mark his 25 years of service in constitutional positions, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha announced at a press conference at the Secretariat here on Monday.
Describing September 17 as a day of inspiration, Dr Saha said the campaign would be based on the theme ‘Jan Seva hi Prabhu Seva’, with a focus on public service, welfare and good governance.
The Chief Minister said Modi’s journey in constitutional leadership began on October 7, 2001, when he became Gujarat Chief Minister, and subsequently continued as Prime Minister of the country. He said the completion of 25 years in public service was a significant milestone that deserved to be observed through programmes dedicated to public welfare.
According to Dr Saha, the state will undertake 12 programmes under the campaign. The opening programme, ‘Ashish Barta Pradip’, will be held on September 17. More than six lakh earthen lamps will be lit at important locations, including villages, towns and households, at 7 pm. Lamps prepared by self-help groups will be distributed through fair-price shops, Panchayat offices and Bhagya Mandir centres.
Major venues including Ujjayanta Palace, Jagannath Dighi, Lakshminarayan Dighi, Mata Tripureshwari Temple, Kalibari Dighi, Neermahal and Unakoti Kalakshetra will host special programmes. Blood donation camps will also be organised across the state.
The remaining programmes will begin from September 29, keeping in view the ongoing Village Committee elections, and continue until October 17.
Under ‘Mere Sapno Ka Bharat’, drawing competitions will be conducted across 4,945 schools, while students will also participate in speech competitions centred on the vision of a developed India.
The ‘Namah Seva: Ankahi Kahaniyan’ initiative will take the message of welfare schemes and public service to communities through street plays. Theatre groups comprising around 18–20 artists will perform in local languages at schools, colleges, Panchayats and other public places.
Another major component, ‘Angan Milan Seva’, will cover all 10,479 Anganwadi centres in the state. Beneficiaries and guardians will be informed about Anganwadi services and various Central and state welfare schemes, while efforts will be made to identify gaps and facilitate access to pending benefits.
Under ‘Seva Ki Kahani’, beneficiaries of schemes such as PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat, PM-Kisan and PM Garib Kalyan Yojana will share their experiences and explain how government assistance has affected their lives.
The ‘Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra’ will feature a service torch procession, bicycle and motorcycle rallies covering around 1,193 villages and 21 towns and cities. Youth participation will be given special emphasis, while a symbolic Kalash representing the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ will be installed at a prominent public location.
Dr Saha also outlined initiatives encouraging citizens to contribute personally to nation-building through social service, along with programmes on innovation, good governance and public participation.
Highlighting various initiatives of the Modi government, the Chief Minister referred to Jan Dhan accounts, Ujjwala connections, housing for poor families, Ayushman Bharat, DBT, infrastructure development, Digital India, GST and measures against terrorism as examples of what he described as major transformations during Modi’s tenure.
For effective implementation, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy has been designated as the nodal minister. Guardian Ministers will supervise activities in their respective districts, while MLAs and other public representatives will also participate in monitoring.
A committee comprising ministers, public representatives, senior government officials and district magistrates has been constituted to prepare the action plan and review implementation. The Information and Cultural Affairs Department will serve as the nodal department for the campaign.
