Agartala, 19th March 2026:   A senior delegation from the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), led by Secretary RD Abhishek Singh, visited New Delhi to present the proposed budget for the 2026–27 financial year. The presentation focused on strengthening rural development initiatives, with particular attention on expanding the Self-Help Group (SHG) ecosystem across Tripura.

During the session, CEO TRLM Tarit Kanti Chakma highlighted the mission’s achievements and outlined its future roadmap. A key point of discussion was the success of the Samriddhi campaigns, which have significantly bolstered SHG enterprises. Under Samriddhi 1.0, Rs 198 crore was mobilized, followed by Rs 248 crore under Samriddhi 2.0, reflecting the growing entrepreneurial drive among rural women.

To further empower women entrepreneurs, TRLM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Management Kolkata, aiming to create “Millionaire Didis” and “Crorepati Didis.” In a landmark step, Rs 100 crore has already been disbursed to 1 lakh “Lakhpati Didis” by Chief Minister Manik Saha. The new target has now been raised to 1.35 lakh Lakhpati Didis, up from the earlier goal of 1.13 lakh.

Supporting livelihood activities, TRLM has sanctioned 60 vehicles for SHG members to enhance mobility and market access. Additionally, Rs 110 crore has been allocated for infrastructure development in the upcoming financial year.

A key market initiative includes the establishment of SHE Marts in all districts of Tripura, providing centralized platforms to showcase and sell SHG products, thereby strengthening branding and income opportunities for rural women.

The Ministry of Rural Development also appreciated TRLM’s work under the DDU-GKY (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana) scheme, with a proposed allocation of Rs 49.92 crore for 2026–27 to support skill training and employment for rural youth.

Another major focus is the Vibrant Villages Programme, under which 87 villages across 23 border blocks will receive targeted livelihood interventions, promoting inclusive growth in remote and strategic areas.

As a token of appreciation, the TRLM team presented SHG-made products to ministry officials, symbolizing the spirit of grassroots empowerment and self-reliance.
