Agartala, December 16, 2023: Tripura Central University celebrated its 12th convocation ceremony on Friday, with Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh as the chief guest. The minister lauded the university for being one of the few in the North Eastern region to implement the new education policy from the undergraduate level in the current academic year.
He said the new policy would enhance the quality and diversity of education, as well as foster research and innovation. He also stressed on the importance of cultural and linguistic exchange between Manipur and Tripura, and urged the students and youth to work for the development of the country in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
He said the Union Ministry of Education was framing new policies and guidelines to create a just, inclusive and plural society as per the Indian Constitution. He also announced a portal for youth to give their suggestions on five themes for developing India, and said the best five contributors would be awarded.
Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, who is also the Chancellor of the university, presided over the ceremony and conferred degrees and medals to the graduates. He said the convocation was a milestone for the students and the university, and encouraged them to pursue wisdom and humanity.
University Vice Chancellor Ganga Prasad Prasain welcomed the guests and highlighted the achievements and contributions of the university. He said Tripura University was a leading institution in the field of higher education, and had made its mark on the world map. He said the students of the university were excelling in various domains and competing with other universities in the country.
A total of 560 students received gold medals in the convocation. MLA Rampada Jamatia, Tripura University Registrar Deepak Sharma and Deans of various departments were also present on the occasion.
