Agartala, 20th May 2026: Tripura University took part in a national-level demonstration on “New Age Fibre” held on 19 May in New Delhi, organised by the Ministry of Textiles in collaboration with the National Jute Board.
The event brought together leading research institutions, industry experts, and stakeholders from across the country to present advancements in sustainable and emerging fibre technologies. Tripura University highlighted its ongoing research in eco-friendly and next-generation fibre development during the showcase.
Significantly, the university was the only higher education institution selected to present its work alongside premier textile research bodies and industry players, marking a notable milestone for the institution.
In a Facebook post, the university stated that its participation reflected its innovative research contributions in sustainable and advanced fibre technologies, placing it among leading organisations in the sector.
During the valedictory session, Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh reportedly acknowledged and appreciated the university’s efforts in new-age fibre research, highlighting its growing recognition at the national level.
The participation is expected to further enhance Tripura University’s standing in research and innovation, particularly in the field of sustainable textile and fibre development.
