Agartala, 8th July 2024:  In a bold move to address the ongoing plight of unorganized workers, the All Tripura Unorganized Workers Congress staged a significant protest on Monday. The demonstration culminated in a mass deputation to the Laboyr Department, highlighted the severe deprivation faced by these workers in Tripura.

“The condition of unorganized workers in Tripura is very pathetic,” lamented Shantanu Pal, Chairman of the organization. “They are not getting any benefits from the government. They have been deprived of government facilities for a long time.”

Pal also drew attention to the hazardous working conditions that unorganized workers endure daily. “The workers are suffering from accidents while going to the workplace. But their families are not getting support from the government,” he stated. Additionally, Pal pointed out the inequities between workers in private offices and their counterparts in government positions, noting that private employees often work 12-hour days without receiving the allowances provided to government employees.

This is not the first time the organization has taken such action. “Deputation of the labor department was given protesting the deprivation of unorganized workers in the previous days as well. But no reply was received from the office,” Pal recounted. Undeterred, the All Tripura Unorganized Workers Congress once again presented their demands through public deputation, hoping to finally elicit a response from the authorities.
