Agartala, 22nd February 2024 : In a celebration of Tripura’s rich cultural heritage, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nannu inaugurated the four-day Milan Mela-2024 at Fatikroy Class XII School ground on Thursday afternoon.
Emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting traditional culture, Governor Nallu urged the present generation to carry forward this legacy. He highlighted Tripura’s potential to lead the nation not only in cultural endeavours but also in fostering harmony, underscoring the pivotal role of the youth in this endeavor. The Governor also noted the significance of such fairs in promoting the products of self-help groups.
In attendance at the opening ceremony were Animal Resource Development Minister Sudhangshu Das, who emphasized the fair’s role in showcasing local talent and its potential contribution to the development of regional culture. Also present were Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Biswa Bandhu Sen, Sabhadipati of Unakoti Zilla Parishad Amalendu Das, District Magistrate of Unakoti District Rajib Datta, and Superintendent of Police Kanta Jahangir, among others.
During the ceremony, Governor Nallu unveiled the ‘Milan Anand’ souvenir commemorating the occasion and presented commemorative gifts on behalf of the Milan Mela Committee. Subsequently, he inaugurated the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare stall and toured various departmental exhibition stalls within the fair premises.
The Milan Mela promises to be a vibrant celebration of Tripura’s cultural richness, providing a platform for local artists and artisans while fostering community engagement and economic empowerment.
