Tripura’s draft voters stands at 28,26,046; 28,765 claims & objections submitted: Ratan Lal Nath

Agartala, November 16, 2023: Tripura’s Election Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday claimed that the draft publication of electorates stands at 28,26,046 voters till November 01 last. However, there was 28,13,418 voters in the last assembly election of the state.

Speaking to media persons at Civil Secretariat here in Agartala city on Thursday afternoon, Minister Nath said the summary revision for voters list had started from November 01 and continue till December 06 next and the draft publication stands at 28,26,046 voters till November 01.

Currently, the claims and objections through form 6, 7 and 8 had started and applications of 8,593, 4,657 and 15,515 had been submitted to the Election department for updation till Wednesday last, he added.

In this summary revision, the Election department is inviting all eligible voters to participate and register their names as electorates. The youths who will be turning 18 years on January 01 of 2024 can submit their form 6. Not only this, youths who are above 17 years can also submit their forms. The concerned department will register their names after hearing from the respective voters when they turn 18 years old, Nath told reporters.

Minister said, the Election department had introduced process to register names for four times in a year i.e. of the first of January, April, July and October.

He further added that this updation process of voters list is necessary as the Lok Sabha polls is approaching. The BLOs are playing a crucial role before the final publication of voters list while the political parties’ have BLAs who are also playing a pivotal role and sub-divisional level trainings have already started.
