Agartala, January 10: Tripura is taking significant strides towards self-reliance, and the state’s rubber and bamboo industries are set to benefit from a new collaboration with the Ministry of Defense. On Friday, a one-day awareness camp titled ‘Evolving Local to Focal – Focus MSME Entrepreneurs’ was held at Hotel Polo Towers, organized by the Bharat Chamber of Commerce and the Production Department of the Ministry of Defense.
The meeting centered on exploring how Tripura’s bamboo and rubber can be integrated with the Ministry of Defence’s requirements. This initiative marks the first time such an opportunity has been presented to the state. Rajkumar Agarwal, President of the Bharat Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the significance of the event. “This is a monumental occasion for Tripura. Our aim is to leverage local resources like bamboo and rubber to support the Ministry of Defense, thereby boosting the state’s economy,” he said.
Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, Deputy Director General of the Defense Investment and Corridor Cell of the Defense Production Department, and Abhik Roy, Secretary of the Bharat Chamber of Commerce, were also present at the event. Abhik Roy emphasized the potential economic benefits, stating, “This is a great opportunity to connect with the production department of the Ministry of Defense by utilizing our local rubber and bamboo industries. We are hopeful that this collaboration will lead to substantial economic development in Tripura.”

The hope is that such initiatives will not only make the state self-reliant but also stimulate economic growth and provide new opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
