Agartala, 10th January 2025: The office of the Gandacherra Contractors’ Association was reduced to ashes in an arson attack late Thursday night. According to reports, miscreants set fire to the newly constructed office building of the association.
Locals noticed the flames and promptly alerted the fire brigade. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and brought the blaze under control. However, by the time the fire was extinguished, the office building and its contents had been completely destroyed.
On Friday morning, the President of the Gandacherra Contractors’ Association, Rabi Mohan Tripura, along with Treasurer Annyaram Tripura and other members, visited the site. A large contingent of police, led by Gandacherra police station’s Officer-in-Charge Asim Sarkar, also arrived to investigate.
President Rabi Mohan Tripura addressed the media, explaining that the Gandacherra Contractors’ Association began its operations on September 14, having previously been part of the Ambassa Contractors’ Association. The new office building, located near the Gandacherra R.D. office, was set to be inaugurated on the upcoming Sunday. Tragically, the building, along with furniture and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees, was destroyed in the fire.
President Tripura confirmed that a case will be filed at the Gandacherra police station. He demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and called for legal action against those responsible for the arson.
