Agartala, January 18: The Tripura Rubber Plantation Corporation (TRPC) is in a financial crisis, as it cannot pay the salaries of its employees for 12 months with the budget money allocated by the state government. The chairman of TRPC, Patal Kanya Jamatia, said that the corporation can only pay the salaries for five to six months with the budget money, and it needs Rs 36 lakh every month to pay the employees.
Jamatia told a press conference in her own room of TRPC that the corporation has decided to pay the salaries of the employees from the proceeds of the sale of rubber seat products, which are given to the beneficiaries of the trust. She said that the benefits will be given to the beneficiaries on time before the month of January, and then the employees will get their salaries. She said that the employees will not be paid earlier at the cost of the beneficiaries.
She also said that she has demanded the punishment of Santosh Chowdhury, the general secretary of TRPC Employees’ Association, who had recently protested and claimed that the BJP state president had asked them to protest strongly for their salaries. She said that Chowdhury was lying and trying to create unrest among the employees.
She also said that she has requested a forensic audit to find out the reasons for the deficiencies in the TRPC. She said that she has asked the Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, and the Janjati Kalyan Department to help the corporation overcome the financial crisis.
