Agartala, January 22, 2023: Acting on tip-off, Churaibari outpost staff seized a six-wheeler truck loaded with phensedyl at Churaibari area on the night of Saturday last. Police arrested the truck driver and co-driver.
Reportedly, the truck bearing registration number AS01HC-6669 reached Churaibari from Guwahati via Patharkandi to Kathaltali and on it’s way to Tripura while the police on duty searched the vehicle as usual.
In this, by searching the special box of the lower part of the vehicle, a total of 1,999 bottles of narcotic Phensedyl codeine phosphate syrup were seized in twenty packets.
In this case, the driver of the lorry, Anwar Hussain (34), a resident of Nunmati in Guwahati and Gulzar Hossain (21), the co-driver were arrested. The police filed a case under the NDPS section against the arrested. They were arrested last night at the Bazaricherra Police Station and then brought to the District CJM Court on Sunday, after which they were lodged in the correctional facility. Conscious people of the area have applauded this raid of the police.
