TSECL Issues Comprehensive Advisory to Ensure Safe and Uninterrupted Power Supply During Rath Yatra

Date:

Agartala, 14th July 2026 :With the  Rath Yatra scheduled for July 16 and the Return Rath Yatra on July 22, the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has launched extensive preparedness measures to ensure a safe, smooth, and uninterrupted celebration across the state. To prevent electrical accidents, maintain uninterrupted power supply, and ensure swift emergency response, TSECL has issued a comprehensive advisory under the direction of its Managing Director, Biswajit Basu.

The initiative is aimed at safeguarding thousands of devotees expected to participate in processions and religious events across Tripura while ensuring that no electrical hazards disrupt the festivities. In line with this objective, detailed instructions have been issued to all Electrical Circles, Divisions, and Sub-Divisions across the state.

As directed by Managing Director Biswajit Basu, all HT and LT overhead lines, distribution transformers, electric poles, stay wires, and other electrical installations along the Rath Yatra routes are to be thoroughly inspected well in advance. Any defect or potential safety risk identified during the inspections must be rectified immediately to eliminate the possibility of accidents.

The advisory also emphasizes maintaining adequate vertical and horizontal clearances between overhead power lines and the Rath chariots. Wherever necessary, preventive measures are to be taken in close coordination with the local administration to ensure that the processions pass safely without any electrical risk.

TSECL has further instructed all field units to deploy sufficient engineers, line staff, and technical personnel at strategic locations throughout the festival period. Emergency breakdown teams, service vehicles, tools, safety equipment, and essential materials are to remain on standby round the clock to ensure immediate restoration of power in the event of any disruption or emergency.

Highlighting the importance of coordinated action, Managing Director Biswajit Basu has directed officials to maintain close coordination with the District Administration, Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Disaster Management Authorities, and Rath Yatra organizing committees. Any electrical accident, power interruption, or unusual incident must be reported to the Corporate Office without delay, enabling prompt and effective response.

TSECL has also appealed to the public to remain vigilant throughout the festival. Devotees and organizers have been advised not to use metallic poles, iron pipes, or any electrically conductive materials during the processions. They have also been urged to exercise extreme caution while passing beneath overhead power lines and to immediately inform the nearest electricity office or local administration if they notice sagging wires or any potentially hazardous electrical condition.

According to TSECL, electrical safety during large public gatherings is a shared responsibility that requires active cooperation between the administration, festival organizers, and the public. Through its proactive planning, strict safety protocols, and coordinated field-level preparedness under the leadership of Managing Director  Biswajit Basu, the Corporation aims to ensure that both the Rath Yatra and the Return Rath Yatra are celebrated safely, peacefully, and without any disruption to the power supply.
