Agartala, 27th March 2025: A major fire broke out in a high-capacity power transformer near a hostel accommodating several TSR (Tripura State Rifles) personnel. The incident took place this morning has caused widespread panic in the area.
Upon receiving the report, a fire tender from Bishramganj rushed to the scene. However, the firefighting team faced life-threatening risks as the electricity was not cut off despite requests to the power department.
According to eyewitness accounts, the fire erupted suddenly in the transformer. Local residents immediately alerted the fire brigade, which acted promptly to bring the blaze under control. Fortunately, there were no civilians present in the hostel at the time, as the hostel had been repurposed to house TSR personnel. Previously, the facility was used for treating COVID-19 patients during the pandemic.
