Agartala, 17th March 2026 : The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) is gearing up for its elections on April 13, with vote counting scheduled for April 17. To ensure a smooth and peaceful polling process, more than 11,000 security personnel, including members of the Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF), will be deployed across the region.
Addressing a press conference, Manoj Kumar, IAS (Retd.), Tripura State Election Commissioner, outlined the election schedule. “The notification will be issued tomorrow. The last date for filing nominations is March 25, followed by scrutiny on March 26, and withdrawal of candidatures by March 28. Polling will be held on April 13, with repolling, if required, on April 16. Counting of votes will take place on April 17, and the entire election process will conclude by April 18,” he said.
Kumar emphasized that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is now in effect in TTAADC areas and urged all political parties, public representatives, and government officials to strictly adhere to it to ensure free and fair elections. He also mentioned that videography would be conducted to maintain transparency during the process.

The TTAADC has 28 District Council constituencies, with 25 reserved for Scheduled Tribes and three unreserved. All eight district magistrates have been appointed as District Election Officers. The total number of voters stands at 9,62,697, comprising 4,82,025 males, 4,80,666 females, and six categorized as others.
On security arrangements, DGP Anurag stated that 11,000 police personnel, including the Tripura State Rifles and CAPF, will be deployed. Polling stations will be monitored closely by Tripura Police and TSR to ensure law and order. Out of 1,257 polling booths, 311 are high-risk, 693 have perceived security threats, and 253 are considered normal, with security deployment proportional to the criticality of each location.
He further explained that mobile patrolling, along with civil and police sector officials, will maintain area dominance, allowing voters to cast their votes without fear. From the day following the announcement until polling day, candidates will be provided personal security, and arrangements for public meetings will require prior approval.
“Preventive arrests and proactive measures have been planned, following detailed coordination with District SPs. Tripura remains an insurgency-free state with no underground groups. In border areas, coordination with the BSF will be strengthened, with 15 camps reinforced as a second line of defense,” DGP Anurag added, expressing confidence that the election process will be peaceful and orderly.
The TTAADC elections are set to be a milestone in ensuring participatory democracy in Tripura, with meticulous planning to guarantee both security and fairness.
