Agartala, March 15, 2024:  Chairman of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Jagadish Debbarma, claimed that the standard of living of people residing in remote areas of the district council remains unchanged due to the inability of the district council to carry out any development work owing to the non-release of funds by the Tripura Government.

Debbarma made these remarks during the inauguration of a newly constructed sub-zonal office in TTAADC.

In his inaugural speech, the chairman stated that the long-standing demands of the local indigenous people have been met as a result of this sub-zonal inauguration. He emphasized that despite the TTAADC administration maintaining a budget of over one thousand crores, the state government is withholding funds.

Debbarma highlighted, “As a result, development work in the TTAADC area cannot be carried out properly with this money. Year after year, the TTAADC’s budget funds have remained in arrears. The standard of living of people in remote areas of TTAADC remains stagnant due to our inability to implement development projects.”

He expressed hope that the development of the TTAADC area would accelerate if the tripartite agreement between the Government of India, Government of Tripura, and Tipra Motha is implemented.
