Agartala, 2nd November 2025 : A two-day training programme on Natural Farming was successfully conducted on October 30 and 31 in the Bamutia Agri Subdivision, organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), West Tripura, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Tripura. The initiative was held under the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) scheme.
The first day of the training took place at Lankamura, followed by the second day at Berimura Tantsamabay Samiti. A total of 250 registered farmers participated in the sessions, which focused on both theoretical and hands-on training in natural farming techniques. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Mandira Chakraborti, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy), under the guidance of Dr. Ganesh Das, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK West Tripura.
Distinguished guests at the Lankamura session included AMC Councilors Ms. Sarmishtha Bardhan (Ward No. 2) and Mrs. Mitra Rani Das Majumder (Ward No. 1). The Berimura session was attended by former MLA and social worker Mr. Krishnadhan Das, East Bamutia Pradhan Mr. Nikhilesh Das, Taltala Pradhan Mr. Subash Pal, and Smt. Jayanti Sharma, President of the Agriculture Standing Committee.
Participants were trained in the preparation and application of traditional bio-inputs such as beejamrit, jeevamrit, ghanajivamrit, neemastro, agniastra, and bramhaastra. These natural formulations are key components of the NMNF’s push for sustainable, chemical-free agriculture that enhances soil fertility and reduces environmental harm.
The training marked a significant step toward empowering farmers with eco-friendly, cost-effective alternatives to conventional farming. With strong support from local officials and agricultural experts, the programme is expected to inspire similar initiatives across Tripura, reinforcing the state’s commitment to sustainable agricultural practices.
