Agartala: June 30. Two individuals have been arrested by the East Agartala police station on charges of murdering a man who was suspected of being involved in cattle theft near the Balda Khal Area.

Dibakar Das and Bhaskar Das, the arrested individuals, were presented before the court on Friday, with a request for police remand. The police are currently making efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects.

According to reports, a man named Nandu Sarkar was detained by locals on Thursday morning in the vicinity of the Balda Khaal Bridge under the Bodhjungnagar police station on suspicion of stealing cows. The local residents accused Nandu Sarkar of being a cow thief and subjected him to severe physical assault.

As a result, Nandu Sarkar sustained serious injuries, prompting the police from the Bodhjungnagar police station to intervene and rescue him. They promptly transported him to the Ranirbazar Primary Health Centre for initial medical aid. Due to the severity of his condition, Nandu Sarkar was subsequently referred to GB Hospital for advanced treatment.

Upon learning of Nandu Sarkar’s demise, his wife and brother hurried to GB Hospital. Nandu Sarkar’s brother raised concerns, asserting that when the police had initially taken Nandu Sarkar to the Ranirbazar Hospital, he was still in a healthy state. However, the doctors at GB Hospital pronounced him dead upon his arrival. These circumstances have raised several questions regarding the cause of Nandu Sarkar’s death.
