Two held with  Burmese cigarettes worth Rs 8 lakh

Agartala, 9th July 2024:   Tripura Police arrested two persons from Damcherra in the North District with Burmese cigarettes worth Rs 8 lakh late Monday night. Damcherra shares an inter-state border with Mizoram and Assam.

Tripura Police sources said that twenty cartons of Burmese cigarettes were recovered from car number AS10B1547.

 “Sub-Inspector Rajib Adhikari of Damcherra police station led the operation and was able to arrest two persons identified as Rahul Nandi (22), a resident of Damcherra, and Rabindra Sarkar (30), of Gomati District. According to confidential sources, the police recovered the goods along with the vehicle from Jole Basa Bazar and handed them over to the Panisagar police station,” said a police spokesperson.
