Agartala, 9th July 2024:  Union Minister of State for Tourism and Petroleum and Natural Gas, Suresh Gopi, arrived in Agartala today, signaling a significant boost for Tripura’s tourism sector. During his visit, Gopi chaired a review meeting at the State Guest House with officials from the Tourism department, accompanied by Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Choudhary.

Addressing the media, Gopi highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent interviews with Malayalam channels, where Modi proposed that Kerala’s successful tourism model could serve as a blueprint for tourism development across India. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the potential for India’s tourism to emulate Kerala’s,” Gopi stated, advocating for the adoption of Kerala’s distinctive tourism elements nationwide to enhance sector outcomes. He also outlined plans to innovate in spiritual and adventure tourism.

Referring to ongoing projects, Gopi noted, “We have ongoing projects that require increased funding. I will discuss this with the cabinet chief, optimistic for a positive outcome.” On new initiatives, he mentioned, “While we have discussed promising ideas, their implementation hinges on cabinet approval.”

Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Choudhary added, “We had comprehensive discussions on ongoing projects with senior officials in attendance.” Gopi is scheduled to chair a review meeting with ONGC at Tripura Asset and visited the Akhaura Border Check Post during his three-day visit to Tripura, exploring various regions.
