Two more arrested in Natunnagar Shootout incident

Agartala, November 18, 2022: Acting on tip-off, a police operation led by Sadar SDPO Ajay Kumar Das on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday arrested two more accused persons and were produced in the court.

It is noteworthy to mention that two youths sustained bullet injuries in the shootout following rivalry between two mafia gangs over tender negotiation at Natunnagar market area under Airport police station.

Speaking to media persons at West Agartala police station premises here on Friday, SDPO Ajay Kumar Das said “In connection to this incident, police arrested accused persons Santosh Das and Prabhakar Ghosh within six hours. Investigation was underway and finally on Thursday last, we received an information that the apprehending accused persons were found in this locality.”

Accordingly, SDPO Ajay Kumar Das, OC Jayanta Kumar Deb, second OC Krishnadhan Jamatia, on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday last conducted an operation near the crematorium at Chinaihani area and two persons were arrested namely Sandeep Dhar alias Akash (27), resident under Airport PS area, and Prantosh Das of the same area. Police recovered a pistol, magazine, live round.

“We will investigate whether the firing took place using this pistol or not. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the two people were involved in gang war following internal problems regarding tender negotiation which led to this firing incident. The victims, Haripada Das, Sanjoy Das and Santosh Das were a gang and they had personal rivalry too”, he added.

“The two accused persons were produced in the court and sent to two days police remand. Following interrogation, we are hopeful that more information will be revealed. Prima Facie reveal that the live round has connection with same incident”, Das told reporters.
