Agartala, 3rd November 2025: The Tripura Police Crime Branch has apprehended two additional suspects in connection with the major EsKuf cough syrup seizure at Jirania Railway Station in West Tripura District on October 17. The arrests were made following sustained investigation and intelligence-led operations.
According to Tripura Police press release, the accused have been identified as Arun Kumar Ghosh (58), son of late Krishnadhan Ghosh, who was nabbed from Kolkata, and Himanshu Jha alias Sonu (32), son of Alok Jha, who was taken into custody in Delhi. Authorities confirmed that legal transit formalities for both detainees are currently underway.
These latest arrests bring the total number of individuals held in the case to three, including Rajib Dasgupta (42), son of Basanta Kumar Dasgupta, who was arrested earlier on October 31.
The case revolves around the recovery of 1,07,800 bottles of EsKuf cough syrup from a goods train at Jirania Railway Station on October 16, 2025.
“The Anti-Narcotics Wing of the Tripura Police Crime Branch continues its investigation to trace and apprehend other members of the illegal drug transportation and supply network,” said a police spokesperson.
