Two Snatchers Arrested by Amtali Police; Stolen Gold Chain Recovered

Agartala, 14th May 2026:  Acting swiftly on a complaint, police from Amtali Police Station arrested two alleged snatchers and recovered a stolen gold chain from their possession.

According to reports, a woman identified as Manju Munda was on her way to a bank on Thursday afternoon. When she reached the Sekerkot Darogabari area, two miscreants allegedly snatched a gold chain from her neck and attempted to flee from the spot.

Hearing her cries for help, local residents rushed to the area and informed the police. Responding promptly, a team from Amtali Police Station reached the scene and arrested the two accused, identified as Debabrata Dutta and Bijoy Sarkar. Police also recovered the stolen gold chain from them.

Later, the victim lodged a written complaint at the police station, following which a case was registered against the two accused.

Speaking to journalists, Officer-in-Charge Inspector Paritosh Das said that both accused would be produced before the court on Friday.
