Agartala, 15th September 2025: Two young men sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident on the Jalebasa-Kanchanpur road around 1 PM on Monday. The victims, identified as Jitendranath (35), a resident of Shuknachhara, Kanchanpur, and Sanjay Debnath (28), from Ramnagar, were traveling towards Kanchanpur on a motorcycle bearing registration number TR05C 8323 when the incident took place.
According to eyewitness accounts, an unidentified vehicle struck their motorcycle near Jalebasa and fled the scene immediately. The impact left the bike mangled and both riders critically injured. Local residents, alerted by the victims’ cries for help, rushed to the spot and assisted in their rescue.
Personnel from the Panisagar Fire Department arrived promptly and transported the injured duo to theJalebasa Primary Health Centre for initial treatment. Following medical evaluation, they were referred to the District Hospital in Dharmanagar. Doctors there, citing the severity of their condition, advised further treatment in Agartala. However, family members opted to take them to Silchar instead.
Medical sources report that Jitendranath suffered a severe eye injury, with possible permanent damage, while Sanjay sustained serious injuries to his head and leg. Jitendranath’s condition is said to be critical.
As of now, the identity of the vehicle involved and the exact circumstances leading to the crash remain unknown. Authorities have yet to trace the vehicle responsible for the collision.
Local police urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
