Agartala, 25th April 2024:   Residents of Narayan Colony Masjid area in Udaipur has been grappling with a severe drinking water shortage for the past four months. In a desperate plea for help, a women’s group took to the streets on Thursday morning, blocking the road in protest. The blockade resulted in significant traffic disruption.

The water crisis has been particularly acute in the Baratila area of Rajnagar Gram Panchayat, located under the Killa assembly constituency. Despite numerous appeals to the local Gram Panchayat, Killa RD Block, and officials of the Water Resources Department, no concrete steps have been taken to address the issue.

Frustrated by the lack of action, residents of the Baratila area staged a road blockade on Thursday, demanding immediate resolution to their water woes. The protest brought traffic to a standstill on both sides of the road, causing considerable inconvenience to commuters.

Upon receiving news of the incident, government officials rushed to the scene and engaged in talks with the protesters. The government has assured the residents that the road in the area will be repaired promptly. Encouraged by this assurance, the local people agreed to lift the road blockade.
