Udbastu Committee submits 3 demands to West DM

Agartala, July 29, 2022: The 3-member delegation of the Paschim Zilla and Sepahijala Zilla Udbastu Unnayan Committee on Friday submitted a memorandum to the West Tripura district’s DM office apprising their three-point charter of demands.

Speaking to reporters here, Ubastu Committee’s president Sajal Podder said “During the regime of previous Left Front government’s regime, no welfare initiative has been taken for us. Even in this regime of BJP-led government, no measures for the welfare of the displaced persons of West Tripura and Sepahijala districts have been initiated so far.”

“Our demands are- families fleeing after attacks of extremist should be recognized as ‘Ubastu’, proper resettlement should be arranged for the ‘Udbastu’ families and a one-time grant of Rs 5 lakh should be given to the ‘Udbastu’ families. If our demands are not met within a span of three days, we will be bound hold bigger movements in the coming days”, he added.The other members are- chairman Gopal Laskar and secretary Rakhal Debnath.
