Agartala, 22nd August 2025:    Tension gripped Bathanmura village in the Amtali area this morning after locals found a body floating in the Rangapania River. The unidentified corpse was spotted by residents, who immediately alerted the Bishalgarh police.

Responding swiftly, police recovered the body and launched a preliminary investigation. While the identity of the deceased remains officially unconfirmed, authorities suspect it may be Paritosh Roy, a resident of Brajapur Das Para, who had been missing for the past four days. Family members had filed a missing person report with the local police earlier this week.

Following the recovery, a crowd gathered at the site, with many villagers claiming the body matched Roy’s description. However, police have stated that the exact cause of death and the identity of the deceased will only be confirmed after a post-mortem examination.

The body has been sent to the GB Hospital morgue for autopsy. Meanwhile, the sudden recovery of a corpse after days of disappearance has triggered widespread fear and speculation in the area. Locals are questioning whether the death was accidental or the result of foul play.

Police have launched a formal investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
