Union Education Minister Reviews Higher Education Push in Northeast; Holds Meeting with Tripura University VC

Agartala, 8th May 2026: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reiterated the Centre’s focus on expanding and strengthening higher education in the Northeast during a meeting with Ahmed Javed, Chancellor of Tripura University.

The discussion centered on improving academic standards, increasing institutional capacity, and fostering research and innovation opportunities across the region. The Minister described Tripura University as a key central institution in the Northeast, contributing significantly to quality education, skill development, and innovation-driven growth.

He further emphasized that the university’s continued development aligns with the national vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047,” which aims to build a developed and inclusive India through education-led socio-economic progress.

The meeting also underscored the importance of collaborative efforts to enhance educational infrastructure and widen access to academic and research opportunities for students across the Northeast.
