Protest Outside Chief Minister’s Residence Over Job Recruitment Delay

Date:

Agartala, 8th May 2026: A group of job aspirants staged a protest in front of the Chief Minister’s residence in Tripura on Friday, raising concerns over prolonged delays in the recruitment process for Fire Service posts, including Fireman and Diver positions.

According to the protesting candidates, the recruitment examination for these posts was conducted in 2022. However, in 2025, the state government reportedly cancelled the ongoing recruitment process through an official notification and announced that a fresh selection procedure, including interviews, would be conducted.

The aspirants allege that despite the announcement, no further steps have been taken even as 2026 progresses. They claim that the recruitment process has remained stalled for nearly four years, leaving candidates in uncertainty and distress.

On Friday afternoon, the protesting group organized a rally and proceeded towards the Chief Minister’s residence. Police personnel intercepted them, preventing further movement, after which the protesters staged a sit-in demonstration and briefly blocked the road. Later, several protesters were detained by the police.

The aspirants expressed frustration over the delay, stating that repeated postponements have left them uncertain about their future. Many of them also raised concerns about crossing the upper age limit for government employment while waiting for the recruitment process to conclude.

The protesters have demanded the immediate completion of the recruitment process and urged the authorities not to further delay employment opportunities. They also questioned the handling of the recruitment process and called for transparency and timely action.

Authorities have not yet issued a detailed public response regarding the latest protest or the status of the recruitment process.
