Agartala, 3rd September 2026 : The 150th anniversary of the National Song ‘Vande Mataram’ will be marked with a nationwide mass singing programme under the campaign ‘Namami Bharatam’ on September 25. At 11:00 AM on the day, more than one crore people across the country are expected to sing ‘Vande Mataram’ collectively.
Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan has launched preparations for the massive programme, with around 12,500 Vidya Bharati schools across the country set to serve as centres. Nearly 30 lakh students, teachers and parents are expected to participate, along with around 25 lakh Vidya Bharati alumni.
To coordinate the programme effectively, special committees will be formed in every district. Vidya Bharati Tripura State Co-ordinator Dr. Nilmoni Chakraborty said the 150th anniversary was not merely an event but an opportunity to transform the spirit of patriotism into a nationwide social campaign.
The initiative will also extend beyond schools. Arrangements are being made at around 12,000 informal Sanskar Kendras of Vidya Bharati, where between 1,000 and 5,000 people will participate in collective singing depending on local conditions. Various social organisations and other institutions will also be brought into the campaign.
Organisers said the simultaneous singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ by more than one crore people at 11:00 AM on September 25 is expected to create a powerful atmosphere of patriotism while conveying a message of national unity, integrity and devotion to the motherland.
