Agartala, 29th May 2025:  Tensions are running high in Ghaniamara area under Bishalgarh subdivision after the family of a grievously injured assault victim came under repeated threats and intimidation allegedly from the accused and their associates.

The victim, Narayan Das, was brutally attacked late on the night of May 28 by a neighbor, Sajal Malakar, in a shocking incident of violence that has shaken the local community. Das, who sustained serious injuries in the assault, is currently battling for his life at GBP Hospital in Agartala.

Following the assault, the victim’s family filed a formal complaint at the Bishalgarh police station, naming Sajal Malakar as the prime accused. However, since the FIR was registered, the family alleges they have faced multiple attacks and threats from groups associated with the accused in an attempt to force them to withdraw the case.

In a dramatic turn of events on Thursday afternoon, the accused, reportedly fearing backlash or retaliatory action, approached the Bishalgarh police station claiming threats to their own lives. However, the victim’s family once again rushed to the police station the same day, pleading for protection and alleging fresh intimidation attempts by the accused’s gang.

“We are living in constant fear. They keep coming to our house with people, threatening us to take back the case. We just want justice and safety,” said a family member of Narayan Das.

Local residents have expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the area and urged the police administration to take swift action to restore peace and ensure justice for the victim.

Senior police officials at Bishalgarh police station have confirmed receiving complaints from both sides and said they are investigating the matter. “We are looking into all angles of the case, including the allegations of threats. Appropriate action will be taken to ensure safety and justice,” a police official said.

As the victim continues to fight for his life, the family and local community now wait for firm action from law enforcement to ensure justice prevails.
