Agartala, 4th May 2026: In a landmark step towards educational empowerment of the Bru community, Heritage Home English Medium School was inaugurated today at Damcherra, North Tripura. The school has been jointly established by Bru Tribe Development Society (BTDS) and Vidya Bharati Shiksha Samiti, Tripura.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Ulhas Kulkarni of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as the Chief Guest. In his address, Kulkarni emphasized that value-based and quality English medium education is essential for mainstreaming the younger generation of the Bru community while preserving cultural roots. He lauded the joint initiative of BTDS and Vidya Bharati for this noble cause.
Nilmoni Chakraborty, State Co-ordinator, Vidya Bharati Shiksha Samiti, Tripura, attended as Guest of Honour. He said that Vidya Bharati is committed to taking quality education to the last child of society, and this school will become a centre for nurturing character, patriotism, and competence among Bru students.
Special Guests present on the occasion were Bijay Bhattacharya of RSS Dharmanagar and Bipin Reang, President, Bru Tribe Development Society. Bipin Reang expressed hope that the school will transform the educational landscape of the Bru-inhabited areas of Damcherra and help children access better opportunities.
The entire programme was conducted by Purna Ram Reang. Local community leaders, guardians, and children participated in large numbers with great enthusiasm.
The school will function under the academic guidance of Vidya Bharati Shiksha Samiti, Tripura, with the aim of developing a strong educational environment for the Bru community and ensuring holistic development of students.
