Sabroom family loses home in nor’wester storm

Date:

Agartala, 4th May 2026:   A poor family in Harbatli village, Ward No. 2, was left homeless after a violent nor’wester storm destroyed their mud house overnight. The storm’s sudden gusts ripped off the tin roof and collapsed the bamboo structure, leaving daily wage worker Robin Tripura, his wife, and two young children without shelter.

Local sources reported that while several homes in the area suffered damage during recent storms, Robin Tripura’s family was hit the hardest. The family was inside the house when it collapsed but narrowly escaped with their lives. Since then, they have been living under the open sky, enduring rain and uncertainty.

Robin Tripura said he had built the house with his meager earnings, but the storm reduced it to rubble in minutes. “Everything we had is gone. Now we have nowhere to stay,” he lamented, appealing for government assistance.

The incident has sparked sympathy among villagers, who have urged the administration to provide immediate relief and support for rebuilding the family’s home. Residents stressed that urgent intervention is needed to ensure the family does not continue to suffer in such dire conditions.
