Week-long power outage plunges Jampuijala village into darkness

Date:

Agartala, 4th May 2026:   Residents of Bailamura in Chikonchhara village under Jampuijala block have been reeling under severe hardship as electricity supply has remained completely cut off for nearly a week. For the past seven days, households have been plunged into darkness, with no sign of restoration.

Locals allege that despite repeated complaints to the electricity department, no permanent solution has been provided. Instead, officials are accused of shifting responsibility onto one another, leaving residents uncertain about when power services will resume.

The outage has hit students, elderly residents, and families with children the hardest. As soon as evening falls, the entire area is enveloped in darkness. Daily essentials have been disrupted — from charging mobile phones to accessing drinking water and using basic electrical appliances. The sweltering heat has only worsened the suffering.

Community members say neither the administration nor the department has shown urgency in addressing the crisis. Anger is mounting, with residents warning of larger protests if electricity is not restored immediately. The situation has sparked widespread resentment, and all eyes are now on whether authorities will take effective steps to resolve the issue.
